Introduction

The Department of War reached a critical inflection point in December 2025. For five years, it conducted limited AI experiments across scattered units with no standardized access to commercial capabilities. GenAI.mil changed this reality by providing frontier AI models to three million DoW employees, warfighters, and contractors through a unified, secure platform. This lesson examines the GenAI.mil platform, the multi-vendor strategy behind it, the three priority use case categories guiding deployment, and the Chief Digital and AI Office coordinating implementation.
