By the end of this lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the Pipeline Builder methodology (Add Data, Transform, Deploy) and map it to the 9 building blocks from Class 16
  2. Explain Power Automate's three flow types and when to use each in a military context
  3. Select the correct platform (Pipeline Builder vs Power Automate) given classification, data source, and user base constraints
  4. Design (on paper) a 5-step data pipeline that ingests, transforms, and outputs military data

Introduction

Class 16 established the 9 universal building blocks that every automation platform shares: triggers, actions, conditions, loops, data transformation, error handling, human approval gates, AI integration, and agent architecture. Those building blocks are the vocabulary. This class teaches you to construct sentences.

A data pipeline is the structured application of those building blocks to a specific, recurring problem: moving data from where it lives to where it needs to be, transformed, cleaned, and actionable. Your brigade generates data in GCSS-Army, LMP, DTMS, MEDPROS, IPPS-A, and DRRS-A. Each system is a silo. Each silo produces reports in its own format, on its own schedule, accessible through its own interface. The commander who needs a unified readiness picture must rely on staff officers who manually pull data from each system, reformat it in Excel, and brief it hours later. That manual process is slow, error-prone, and consumes skilled labor on data plumbing rather than analysis.
