Course Overview

Military AI literacy for high-stakes national security decisions. 20 classes across 4 modules covering AI fundamentals through practical application.

Military organizations adopting artificial intelligence require leaders who possess integrated knowledge spanning technical foundations, platform governance, decision-making frameworks, and practical engineering capacity to deploy these technologies responsibly and effectively. AI for GIs addresses this requirement through twenty sequential classes organized across four modules that progress from theoretical grounding through platform mastery and oversight protocols to hands-on automation construction. The first two modules establish foundational literacy encompassing AI definitions, architectural hierarchies, performance constraints, commercial platform evaluation, and the Department of War's multi-layered infrastructure operating across Impact Levels 2 through 6, enabling leaders to match specific tools to mission requirements within authorization boundaries.

The final two modules translate that knowledge into judgment and capability, progressing from data literacy and human-in-the-loop oversight protocols through international competitive analysis to the engineering of automated workflows, AI-augmented pipelines, and bounded autonomous agents using authorized platforms. Leaders completing the course acquire analytical capacity to evaluate vendor proposals against empirical benchmarks, calibrate trust through continuous validation rather than static acceptance, navigate classification governance for every platform selection decision, and construct original automation solutions from universal architectural patterns that survive platform evolution. The curriculum transforms artificial intelligence from an abstract organizational initiative into a disciplined professional competency, equipping military leaders at battalion through combatant command echelons with knowledge, judgment, and engineering skill proportional to the consequential decisions AI now mediates across intelligence analysis, logistics operations, and force modernization.
